SPECIAL EDITION
Here comes the legacy of Berlin's first graffiti writer magazine, dedicated exclusively to the writing culture. A magazine that grew up far from computer editing, through passionate handwork with and in Berlin, became more confident and higher in quality with each issue. Led by writing activists who knew what they were doing because they themselves grew up in and with this culture. A generation that carried on the legacy of the grandfathers from New York and the 1st and 2nd generations of Berlin's old school.
To be exact, the trailblazers who grew up in a spectacular time: the late 1980s and early 90s. In a city that was completely turned upside down by the fall of the Wall on November 9, 1989. At a time when there were new sections of track and train storage sidings, as well as entire operational stations that had to be discovered and conquered. Walls along the S-Bahn track, which had never before come into contact with paint, were never to be returned to their original state!
It was precisely during this time that INKA and REW founded OVERKILL magazine. Two writers who had an absolute passion not only for the love of writing but also for photography. They photographed all the pieces on trains and walls that came before their lenses. These photos grew into a huge archive that fueled OVERKILL magazine and made it what it is: legendary and irreplaceable.
For the first time in this book, all the images are in color, as they could only be seen in black and white back then due to financial reasons. In addition, all the texts have been kept true to the originals, with only the spelling errors corrected, but they've also been translated into English. Furthermore, old, irrelevant advertising pages have been replaced by unpublished photos from that time. In addition to the existing interviews and texts from: ODEM, SARE62, AMOK, A-ONE, KANE, SHEK, ESO, DONDI, ARAB, OXBOE, DEJOE, BISAZ, PHOS4, ATOM, ZHIT, FOK, KENT, IRON THE DAMAJA, TFB, CRITAZ, BFM, and many more, there are also three new interviews from eyewitnesses such as AMOK, PHOS4, and MODE 2.
There are also numerous reports and texts, not only before each individual issue but also all the details about how it all came about in the first place, which can now be called the legacy of the 90s.
